Tarte Make Believe In Yourself Palette Review and Swatches (Eye and Cheek Palette)

I picked up the Tarte Make Believe In Yourself Palette on sale at Sephora. I had my eye on the palette since it released, and decided it was time to pick it up. The tones in this palette really drew me in. It has some neutral shades, and some fun pops of colour. I believe this was released as a part of their unicorn collection. The packaging is really cute, Tarte has some of my favorite packaging. The round disk makes it easy to hold and I don't have any issues storing them.

Tarte Make Believe In Yourself Eye and Cheek Palette

This palette consists of 9 shimmer shades, 1 matte shade and one cheek highlighter. I appreciate the matte shade that is included because it works well with all the shimmer shades.  If you have medium skin, I'm not sure how well it would show up. This palette is stunning, but the shimmer shades don't pick up well with a brush. I kept trying to use a brush and it wasn't working. I had to use my fingers. I'm not opposed to using my fingers to apply metallic shades, but I do prefer using a small concealer brush. I have small lids and I prefer the precision of using a small concealer brush. I think I found only 1 or 2 metallic shades that worked well with a brush.

The highlighter swatches really well, but it disappeared on my skin after a few hours. It's not a creamy highlight that I'm use to. The shade was nice on my fair skin, but it wasn't a stand out highlighter. It will probably work better as an inner corner highlighter and/or a brow bone highlighter.

Overall, I really liked the palette once I figured out how to use it. The shades are gorgeous and very pigmented. I had no issues with the eye shadows fading or creasing on my eyes. If you're wondering about this palette, pick it up while it's on sale. This is a limited edition palette and won't be around for long.

  1. I've had my eye on this palette for a long time, though doubt I'll get since there are too many shimmer shades to my liking but overall gorgeous palette

  2. I can't help but go back and forth on this palette! I thought about maybe picking it up during the VIB sale but I think my mind is made up that I won't. I'm also not a fan of shadows that don't apply well with a brush. Finger application is too messy. I'm not 100% opposed to it if I'm obsessed with the palette but this one I was only considering because of the price and beautiful packaging lol.

  3. It's definitely a pretty palette but I don't think I will use all the shades. Thank you for the honest review!

  4. It's a beautiful palette with gorgeous shades, too bad the shimmery ones didn't pick on your brush and you had to use your fingers. But I really like the pigmentation and the packaging! :)

  7. The swatches of these shades are very pretty. I like shimmers and hence was drawn towards it when it was released but I had some other palettes that I really wanted so I let this one pass. Reading this review it was a good decision as the colors would be less visible on my medium skin tone :-) but it is pretty.
