Let's Chat (Making Goals for Myself)

Drink Tea, Read Books, Be Happy

Let's chat! January is almost over and I've been secretly working on some resolutions. I didn't write a post about my resolutions but I thought I would set some goals and see how it goes. I'm a very goal oriented person and I'm always looking to improve myself. One of the goals I set for myself was to make reading a priority again. I don't watch alot of TV, when I do I'm watching with my husband. I do watch quite a bit of Youtube and I felt like my interests weren't balanced. Yes, I love makeup, my blog and the beauty community but that's not all I enjoy. I thought reading needs to be put back into my routine. I've been doing really well. I've read 4 books, and I'm almost finished my 5th this month. I've been fitting reading into my commute to work, my lunch breaks, my son's bath time and bed time. Each reading session counts. It won't happen unless I make time for it.

Digital Organization is another change for my this year. The last few years I've been using an A5 planner and I loved it, but it was becoming so big and bulky. I also didn't carry it around with my on the weekends. It stayed in my work bag. I started using ProPlanner Plus for my iPhone and the weekly layout is really nice. I've also been using Google Keep for lists. It's nice but I would love to have a program that I could create alot of lists and be able to organize them into folders. If you have a recommendation, I would love to hear it.

Budgeting and being intentional with purchases. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I don't want my blog to be an excuse to buy all the products that I want. I still need to be responsible and keep it in the budget. I'm on a low buy and only buying products that I really REALLY want. I stopped my Boxycharm subscription because I felt like all the products I received, were good but not favorites. Nothing I would want to really repurchase. I don't have alot of space for products in my home, and I want to keep that space for the stuff I really want. I also don't want to get overwhelmed with stuff. This month, I've only bought one eyeshadow palette.

Meal Planning and trying new recipes. I discovered meal planning when I returned to work after my maternity leave. I felt so overwhelmed with work and home that I didn't know what to do. I discovered organization and meal planning. It really helped me focus on what I needed to do, to buy, and put me in control. I do not like to cook, I really don't...but I have a family that I need to feed. This year I want to extend my meal planning by adding new recipes into the mix. I have a pressure cooker and I want to learn how to use it more. My slow cooker is golden! This goal has been going well. I've been enjoying finding new recipes

  1. These are some great goals! I really want to read more this year as well. I used to love reading when I was younger, and I think it'd be great to get back into the habit again, rather than being glued to my phone all the time 😅

We recently bought the InstantPot pressure cooker and it's made cooking sooo much easier! You literally can cook anything in there, and there are so many great recipes for it online! 90% of our meals are now made in there, it's a life changer for sure!

  3. These are some great goals and actually all ones that I need to try to improve for myself to. I want to try meal planning this year because I am so tired of deciding what to make on the day and then running around trying to get all the ingredients together. Good luck lovely xxx

  4. Great goals that you've set out for yourself, I can definitely relate to many of them. Digital organisation has and I guess will always be a struggle for me. I still prefer bullet journaling at the start and end of each day but never carry it around with me. I love jotting down lists but have moved over to write them down in my "notes" on my laptop so that it automatically updates on my phone and I can update and write as I go.

  5. All the goals you have set are so relatable Jennifer. There are so many things that need to be done and I keep procrastinating. Reading your post has motivated me to get myself organized as well. Reading is a habit for me before going to bed, but I should do some more. Digital organization will be a struggle. I like to maintain a note book for everything. Budgeting is interesting too. I always limit myself from getting anything and everything, there was time when I did that most of the time but now I get only those things that I really want. Great post! :-)

  9. I also want to read more, especially now that school has started again! If you do find a good way to organize only, please let us know. I love my planner but I don't keep it with me everywhere so I forget to write things down.

  10. I'm with you! I definitely want to read more. I'm great at purchasing books but not completing them. LOL So I want to make that change this year. I've been more particular about makeup this year. It started last year by reviewing EVERYTHING I had. Now this year, I want to use it before making any big purchases. I'm a lot wiser with my purchases.
