Becca Velvet Blurring Primer (Review) (Dry Skin)

Becca Velvet Blurring Primer (Review)

The Becca Velvet Blurring Primer is one of the strangest primers I've ever tried, and I wanted to talk to you about it. I picked up a small sample from Sephora with 100 points, and had no idea what this primer was all about. This is a liquid to powder blurring primer that claims to "diminish the appearance of pores, fine lines, and imperfections to leave skin porcelain smooth with an airbrushed finished." Sounds good right? Yeah, I didn't like it. It does claim to be good for all skin types but my dry skin didn't like this.

The first few times I used it, I thought something was wrong with my sample. The texture of the primer is so watery, that it looked like peach water. I felt like I had to use too much product to cover my face, and then the "liquid to powder" felt so odd on my skin. My skin did feel like I had powdered it. However, I felt like it was drying my skin. It does say it's a "matte" finish and I'm not a matte girl. I think this is suited for someone with oily skin or someone who really wants a matte finish throughout the day. I will say it did seem to blur my skin but nothing that I really needed in my routine.

While I'm happy to that I tried this, it really was a unique experience for me. I like hydrating primers, and more glow/radiant primers. I would love to try Becca's Priming filters, such as the First Light or Back Light. I think those would work much better for me. Please don't let me discourage you from trying this product, if I would have done a little research I would have realized that this was not for me. If you are interested, Sephora does sell a mini version too.

Have you heard of this product or tried it out? What did you think?

  2. I have not tried this primer but maybe my oily skin will like it. I will not be purchasing a big bottle but if I can find a 100 point sample I will definitely be trying it. :-) Thanks for sharing your thoughts Jennifer.
