Mom On The Go Affordable Makeup (Beginner Friendly)

A Makeup routine doesn't have to be complicating or overwhelming when putting together your routine. When I'm in a hurry; when I don't want to think too much about my look these are the affordable makeup products that I know will give me the look that I want. I can also apply them quickly and know how they perform. Here are some of my tips and tricks when putting together that no fuss, easy and dependable makeup routine.

Face Products

Foundation: L'Oreal Pro Glow (Ulta

If you want to be quick in the morning, I would go with a light to medium coverage foundation. You can blend it out quickly, and move on to your next step. Full coverage foundations always take me longer to apply and blend out. It's your choice whether to use a primer or not; if I'm in a hurry I can skip the primer and just use moisturizer. If you have oily skin, you might want to try the L'Oreal Pro Matte version and primer may be a necessity. You can also select a BB cream or tinted moisturizer, if you're not really looking for coverage but want to even out your skin tone.

Concealer: Maybelline Fit Me (Ulta)

The Maybelline Fit Me is a concealer that I go back to when I'm looking for a drugstore concealer. It does the job, has a doe foot applicator and blends out easily. I have to set it with a powder to avoid creasing but that's nothing new.

Powder: Milani Prep Set and Go Powder (Ulta)

If I'm in a hurry, the choice is going to be pressed powder over loose. I want to avoid the mess, and I don't want to look too powdery. When using pressed powder typically you pick up less product on the brush. I love the Prep Set and Go because it gives me a nice healthy radiance. If you want just a transparent matte version, Milani does have that too.

Blush/Bronzer/Highlight: Maybelline Master Contour Trio (Ulta)

I'm always scouting for products that are multipurpose. I love cheek palettes that have what I need altogether. I don't have to keep looking for products, apply the bronzer, blush and highlighter and be done. This palette has a nice neutral blush that isn't too pink or too peachy.

Brows: Maybelline Brow Definer and Essence Give Me Brow | Maybelline (Ulta) Essence (Ulta)

When it comes to sparse brows, the Maybelline Brow Definer is great to create those small hair-like strokes. It also has an included spoolie, you will need it. The Essence Make Me Brow tints your hairs and adds dimension to your hairs.

Eyes: Morphe 9B Palette (Ulta)

I like smaller eye palettes when I'm in a hurry, it doesn't overwhelm me and I can quickly select a few shadows to create a look. This palette has a range of mattes and shimmers with a nice range of shades. The darker shades can be used as a liner to speed up the process.

Mascara: L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara Primer, and Voluminous Mascara |Primer (Ulta) Mascara (Ulta)

Fake lashes are not happening when I have to work. The L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara primer is my holy grail. I wear it all the time, because it adds the length that I lack, and putting a Voluminous mascara on top gives me the lashes that I want. Yes, it's a white primer but it dries down quickly and I never worry about the white being visible. The L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara is also a favourite of mine.

Lip Products: Nyx Butter Gloss (Ulta)

I love a nice gloss, it wears away without my worrying how my lips look and it feels nice on the lips. You can also choose a nude lipstick if you want. I like to opt for tinted lip balms too.

Beginner Tips

If you're new to makeup and think "wow, that's a lot of products." You don't have to use all of them. At times I will do my brows and complexion, with or without mascara. I just want a radiant complexion. When I started wearing makeup, I didn't wear foundation and put on concealer and eyeshadow and mascara. There are no rules to makeup, you do what feels right to you. Start small, and you can add in more products later.

  3. Maybelline FitMe and Essence Make Me Brow are classic and I lost count how many I went through. Makeup for me is to make me look like a slight better version of myself so I usually dab concealer, eyebrows and mascara and a bit of lipstick and I am good to go.

    1. I have a weakness for eyeshadow but I do like to go lighter on weekends and skip eyeshadow and mascara. I like to give me eyes a break from products.
