20 Random Facts About Me

20 Random Facts About Me

I decided to cover more than just beauty on this blog, and 2020 has a wide variety of blog topics written in my notebook. I thought I would start the year off by giving 20 random facts about me and letting my readers know a little bit more about me on a personal level.

1. I’m an avid reader, and when I go through reading slumps I feel like I’m missing something. Normally, it’s when life gets busy and I realize that I’m not taking time for myself.

2. I’ve fallen into a routine with my makeup/beauty products and I’m trying to stay within my comfort zone instead of always switching out products. I felt like I was constantly testing products and I couldn’t take the time to enjoy the products I really wanted to use. I’m currently on a low buy, trying to use up some products.

3. I don’t drink coffee, I’m a tea lover but no coffee. I love the smell of coffee, but I don’t like the taste. I'm thinking of adding tea reviews to this blog.

4. Before I had Mrs Q Beauty blog, I had a book blog that I started in 2009. I’ve pretty much been a blogger for 10 years.

5. I don’t watch much TV or movies. I prefer to watch Netflix or YouTube on my tablet when I have time.

6. I have a bachelor’s degree; it is a Joint Specialization of English and History with a certificate in Native Studies. I loved school and will love to pursue my master’s one day.

7. I’m a picky eater, all my life I’ve hated vegetables. It’s a struggle because I would love to eat them, but the texture turns me off.

8. I’m a homebody and introvert. Since I’ve had my son, it’s been a work in progress for me. Having children forces you to socialize much more. It takes me a long time to warm up to others. I keep my circle small.

9. One of my favourite parts of blogging is connecting with others and finding people who share similar interests. In addition to beauty, and books I love personal finance videos and blog posts. I love budgeting tips and setting money goals.

10. I love, love, love Gilmore Girls. I went through high school, CEGEP and university with Rory. I still go back and watch episodes frequently.

11. I am almost 35 years old, and I was a premature baby. I was 2 pounds 2 oz and spent the first few months of my life away from my family. Living in a remote area without a NICU, I had to be airlifted to another city.

12. I hate the feeling of wet hair. I have long hair, and the minute I get out of the shower it feels cold and I hate it.

13. As an Indigenous person, I’m always looking to support Indigenous brands. This is something I will work on more in the coming year.

14. I used to hate having pictures taken of me, I’ve come along way in the past 5 years.

15. I love the colour pink, I’m a yellow gold jewelry girl.

16. I pretty much only listen to country music; Miranda Lambert all the way.

17. I have no issues with getting older, my age is something that I take pride in. As I get older, I gain more knowledge. I’m always growing and learning, and age is only a number.

18. I don’t like cooking, especially for others. I do it but I don't enjoy it. Some people are natural cooks, and I’m not. It takes patience and work for me, it doesn't come naturally. I prefer to bake.

19. I’ve been married since 2009, but we’ve been together since 2002. I was 17 years old and just graduated high school.

20. I have a basset hound, and he’s only motivated by food. He would trade me for a cookie any day…

Any questions, feel free to ask. Thanks for supporting Mrs Q Beauty and I'm so excited to get back to blogging.

  4. I am also looking to supporting more Indigenous brands! I have really good Haida friends who educated me growing up with their stories and the importance of using certain words and not others. I remember one friend telling me that "totem poles" do not exist and ever since then, I've never used the term! I discovered Cheekbone Beauty because of you and I look forward to discovering more!
