Cheekbone Beauty : Pink Pop Liquid Lipstick Trio and the Women Behind the Shade Names

Cheekbone Beauty : Pink Pop Liquid Lipstick Trio and the Women Behind the Shade Names
Cheekbone Beauty recently launched three new liquid lipstick shades, and while I love discovering the new shade selection I enjoy the announcement of the shade names just as much, if not more. That might sound strange; shade names are shade names but Cheekbone names each shade after a strong Indigenous woman. The end goal is to empower Indigenous youth. The lipstick collection is aptly named 'The Warrior Collection' and has a total of 17 shades. This brand is founded on the idea that we can all make a difference. We have such amazing women in our culture, it's really humbling to see all that our warriors have achieved. The newest trio of lipsticks is the Pink Pop Warrior Women. Full disclosure, I am apart of the brand ambassador program. I do not receive a commission from sales, but I do receive products to help promote the brand. I've loved Cheekbone Beauty long before I became an ambassador.

Alanis is named after Alanis Obomsawin. Alanis is an American-Canadian raised in Quebec, best known for her documentary films. In addition to being a prolific documentarian, she is also a singer, artist, and activist. Her work focuses on the strength and resilience of Indigenous people while facing government and social injustices as well as discrimination. Her best-known film is Kanehsatake: 270 years of resistance, about the 1990 Oka Crisis. (The shade Alanis is bright and electric pink.)

Sonia is named after Sônia Guajajara. Sonia is a proud member of the Guajajara people of the Amazon. She was one of the first two Indigenous people to run for a federal executive position. She has also organized many demonstrations in support of Indigenous rights and is a  leader for the Indigenous people of Brazil.  (Sonia is a rich pink with notes of blue.)

Tantoo is named after Tantoo Cardinal. Tantoo is a Metis/Cree actress who has also been named as a member of the Order of Canada- one of Canada's highest civilian honours. Tantoo has over 100 film and television credits to her name and she is an icon of Canada. One of the most recognized Indigenous actresses' of her time. Earlier in her career, Tantoo saw the negative depictions of Natives and wanted to redress the imbalance that was portrayed.  In 2015 she reached new acclaim after receiving the award of excellence from ACTRA - Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists. (Tantoo is a soft pink nude.)

If you are a makeup lover, I encourage you to try these shades. I have Tantoo and love the soft nude. The Warrior liquid lipsticks are great for every day, they don't dry out your lips and are easy to be applied for long-lasting wear. The glosses are fantastic as well. If I had to recommend one product from the brand, I would tell you to pick up the Stardust highlighting palette. You can read my review of the Stardust palette here. I honestly wear it every single day. As a brand ambassador, I do have a discount code for you to save 15%, you can add JennR66 at checkout to save money.
