Multi Purpose Palettes: Tarte Cosmetics (Ladies Night Eye and Cheek, Goddess and Glam)

limited-edition ladies night eye & cheek palette
Ladies Night Eye and Cheek Palette

I love palettes that are "all in one" type palettes, and I purchased two palettes from Tarte around the holidays. These types of palettes are great when traveling, or when I'm in a hurry to get ready for work. The Ladies Night Eye and Cheek Palette has a blush, bronzer, highlighter and 6 eyeshadow in the palette. I also picked up the Goddess and Glam Eye and Cheek set which again has 6 eye shadows, a blush and highlighter. Both of these palettes are nice, but not favorites of mine. I realized I'm not a huge fan of Tarte's eyeshadow formula. The permanent palettes like the Toasted, and Bloom have a very different formula. The shimmers in these palettes are not that vibrant which is something that I go for. Even spraying them with  a setting spray, gives me an "okay" shimmer. Both blushes in these palettes are really nice, and my favorite part of these palettes. The face products are much better than the eyeshadows.

I don't think I will be picking up any Tarte Limited Edition palettes anymore. I also noticed they don't have a great staying power on my lids, including the mattes. By the end of the day, they really fade away. These palettes are good for travel or for throwing in an overnight bag. I will get a nice look but if I'm looking for a night out or a special occasion, I will look for a palette with better lasting power. The shimmers in the Goddess Glam palette are actually difficult to pick up with a brush, they seem pressed harder into the pan. I would prefer a Morphe palette over these two any day. I do prefer the Ladies Night Eye and Cheek palette over the Goddess Glam palette. I will keep my eye out for other "all in one" palettes. I do like having them in my collection.

Review: Maybelline Superstay 24 hr Full Coverage Foundation

Review: Maybelline Superstay 24 hr Full Coverage Foundation

The Maybelline Superstay 24 Hr Full Coverage foundation has made the round in the beauty community, and I picked it up when I saw it in store. The packaging is very simple, a glass bottle with a white lid and pump. There was a stick label on it that I removed when I opened it. In general, I do like Maybelline foundations and this one was another foundation that I liked. I won't say it's a favorite though. It is very full coverage, and I don't go for full coverage every day. This is a lightweight foundation that lasts all day. it claims to wear for 24 hours and I'm not about to try that out. It does last a full day for me, but does break down around my mouth. Honestly, I don't wear alot of full coverage foundations.  In the morning, I'm looking for something that would even my skin tone and blend very quickly. Since this is full coverage, it does take more work to blend in. I prefer to use a sponge to apply it, since it does soak up the excess product. I did notice that it sunk into my fine lines, and needed to be set with a powder to correct this.

Overall, if you're looking for a full coverage foundation from the drugstore. I would try this. I think it's worth a try. The issues that I did see with it, were typical of full coverage foundation on my skin. I didn't see anything that was alarming. It's a good drugstore option. I have dry skin, and it didn't feel drying on my skin. I'm still going strong with my Physician's Formula Healthy foundation. It suits my needs for every day wear. It is available in 14 shades, I have the lightest and it matched my skin well. I know Maybelline has a foundation with this same name before, I'm not sure if it's just reformulated or brand new.

Weekly Product Rotation (Pur, Tarte, Essence, Estee Edit, ELF)

Weekly Product Rotation (Pur, Tarte, Essence, Estee Edit, ELF)

Last week, I kept my makeup simple. I pulled out products that I know work for me and I don't have to think too much about how to apply it. Winter doesn't want to go away, and last week I needed to get ready as quickly as possible to deal with the snow and car. Let's hope this week is milder.

Pur Cosmetics Soiree Diaries Palette: If you don't want to think too much about your makeup look, a neutral palette is a great choice. I really like the Soiree Diaries palette because it has every thing I look for in a palette. It's also very neutral and I don't have to think too much about what i'm wearing.

Tarte Toasted Palette: If I'm looking for a warmer toned eye look, this one is good. It's not too warm, not too orange or red toned. I love the shimmers in this palette. I wanted to use this palette because I hadn't used it much since I first bought it, and I still really like it.

Essence Blush In Adorable: Essence blushes are so nice, they blend so easily. They last all day on my skin and I don't think you could go wrong with an Essence blush. This is one of those blushes that you can apply a generous amount and not go overboard.

Estee Edit Bronzer in Light/Medium: Unfortunately, this bronzer is no longer available. It's one of my favorite bronzer. It's perfect on my fair skin. It's not too cool, not too warm and blends so quickly. Again, a bronzer I can apply and not worry about how I'm applying it.

ELF Highlighting HS Powder in Starlight Glow: If you haven't tried the new ELF highlighters, you really should. They are beautiful on the skin. I've used this highlighter quite a bit now, and it's a "go to" for me.

Review: Morphe 15D Day Slayer Palette

Morphe 15D Day Slayer Palette

The Morphe 15D and 15N palettes launched for the holiday season, but Morphe has announced that they are now in stock and no longer limited edition. If you're a fan of the 35O palette, you will like the 15D palette. This palette is very orange, and warm toned which I love. It has enough shades to do an all matte look, and has enough variety of shimmer shades if that's what you like. The mattes are very nice and blend easily. The shimmer are nice but work best sprayed with a setting spray. They're not as intense and soft as Morphe's usual shimmers. Does it make me like this palette less? no, I still really like it. I really like an intense shimmer which not all people are looking for. It is housed in a hard black plastic case which I really like, and it has a mirror which is great for traveling. This is one of my favorite every day palettes at the moment. (Purchase here)

An affordable Makeup Remover? Pond's Cold Cream Cleanser

Ponds Cold Cream Cleanser

If you're looking for an affordable, and effective makeup remover, stick around I have something I want to tell you about. In all honesty, if I would have seen this on the shelves, I would have never picked this up on my own. I heard about it through the blogging community. It's not a product that you hear about frequently but it has been around for so long. It's a "tried an true" product that I wanted to test out. I've been using this for about a month, and let me tell you- it works. At the end of the day, I want a makeup remover that will remove my makeup, not burn my eyes and leave my skin feeling hydrated and not stripped. This cold cleanser does all of the above. I wash my hands, take a small amount of the cream out of the pot and apply it to my face. I massage the cream into my skin, around my eyes and the makeup melts away. I use a polyester cold to wipe it away, and then I wash my face as usual. It's so quick, easy and no panda eyes in the morning.

I'm quickly learning that I like balms and cream cleansers to remove my makeup over other cleansers. I've tried oils, and micellar waters-  both have not worked for me. I refuse to use makeup wipes, it's too expensive and I haven't found any that I really liked. Oils feel messy, and micellar waters burn my eyes.  If the Pond's Cold Cream feels a little too thick, I quickly dip my hand under the faucet to add a little bit of water to thin it out. My skin feels so hydrated and refreshed when I'm done. As a first step to remove my makeup, I couldn't ask for more. It does it's job wonderfully. It does have a slight scent to it, but nothing that would bother me and I'm very sensitive to scents.

Weekly Product Rotation (Morphe, Makeup Revolution, Essence, Physicians Formula, Maybelline)

I've been having alot of fun with these weekly product rotation post. I make a point to rotate my collection, and make sure that I'm using 5 new products each week. It allows me to use my products, and take a look at what I have. This is what I used last week:

Morphe 24G Grand Glam Palette: I only used this eyeshadow palette last week. That never happens to me, I always pull in a second palette. I've been loving this palette so much that I stuck with it. The pans in the palette are huge and I truly love each and every color in this palette. I'm so happy that I ordered it. It was actually the only makeup product I bought in the month of January.

Essence Volume Stylist Mascara: This curl and hold mascara works really well on my lashes. It gives me volume and length, doesn't clump. It's very affordable and one of my favorite mascara's. If you're looking for a new mascara, try this one out. Essence has some really great mascara's and I love trying them out.

Physician's Formula Healthy Foundation: I love this foundation, and I can't get enough of it. I love the doe foot applicator, it makes applying it so quickly. My favorite thing about this foundation is how quickly it blends into the skin. I don't have to set it and it leaves a nice health glow to my skin. I don't see myself putting this away for awhile.

Maybelline Great Lash Clear Mascara: I finished my Anastasia Beverly Hills clear brow gel, and didn't feel like buying another one. Those are so pricey. Yes, it works like glue but I didn't feel like it was necessary for my brows. This mascara was on sale and I decided to give it a try. The brush is nice, not too big. It holds my brows well, and washes off easily.

Makeup Revolution Highlight Palette: I pulled this highlighter palette out of my collection this week. I mostly stayed with the white highlighter in the trio. I have very pale skin and I do like a white tinted highlighter. This highlighter melts into the skin and doesn't emphasize any texture on my skin.

Have you tried any of these products?

Dream St Kathleenlights X Colourpop Eyeshadow Palette

Dream St Kathleenlights X Colourpop Eyeshadow Palette

Colourpop collaborated once again with Youtuber Kathleenlights and released the Dream St palette along with some lip products. I've previously purchased Kathleenlights collabs with brands and loved them. I was excited to pick up the palette and happy to support Kathleen. The Dream St palette is a warmed toned palette with nice pops of color that retails for 16$.  Like other Colourpop palettes, this has 16 shades. It has mattes, shimmers and satins. This palette was so hyped up that I couldn't wait to give it a try. The mattes are wonderful and blend really well. The shimmers do take a bit of work which I feel like no one really talks about. I really have to build them up, spray them or apply with my finger otherwise they don't show up that much. If you watch Youtubers applying the shimmers, they always spray them.
