Amazon Finds: 5-1 Curling Wand (Great for beginners)

Amazon Finds: 5-1 Curling Wand (Great for beginners)

I've always wanted to be able to curl my hair and have nice beachy waves but I have long thick hair and could never figure out a curling iron that had a clip. My ends were always looking chopped. I thought a wand style might be easier for me. I purchased this 5-1 curling wand through Amazon and was ecstatic when I realized that it is possible for me to do my hair at home.

This curling wand has 5 different size barrels that will give you different types of curls. This appealed to me because I knew I could experiment and see which size of a barrel I would like. It heats up really quickly, the barrels change easily and the iron isn't heavy. When you first get it, you think it feels "cheap" and it is under 40$ but I ended up liking the lightweight feel because it made curling my hair quicker. If you've ever used a straightening iron to curl your hair, it gets heavy in your hand. I didn't experience this with the 5-1 iron. My curls held really well too.

It has two heat settings, and I usually put it to the highest- within 60 seconds it is ready to go. There is also a heat protective glove, I don't use it but it is probably recommended. The wire is pretty long and rotates 360 degrees, I never had issues with the wire tangling. Comparing this to a much more expensive curling iron I have, I prefer this 5-1. My curls held a lot longer and I didn't have any frizz. After I bought this one, I realized I could remove the clip from my curling iron very easily. It's just 3 screws.

I think this is great for beginners, great for travel and I'm really happy to have purchased it. After using this if I wanted to invest in a better iron, I have a better knowledge of which barrel size I like. I have been using this since January and can't speak to the durability but I really do recommend it at this time.

  2. I love how they have different barrel styles. I personally want to get the Beachwaver curling iron which is super expensive but I'll try to save up my Ulta points for it.

  5. Which barrel size does work best for you? I am still at loss trying to figure that out for my (very fine) hair.

  6. I have a couple of curling wands, one is thinner and the other a big barrel which I tend to use more. I do like the beachy look and like to curl my hair and either brush it through or shake it about with my hands for that undone look. This wand looks fab with all the different size barrels. x

  11. I have curly wavy hair and was always fascinated by straight hair. I use little to no heat on my hair. This sounds good. I have one curling iron that I purchased from Amazon and I have not used it here, because I am scared of the voltage difference.:-)
