ELF Mad for Matte and Mad for Matte Summer Breeze Palette
If you're like me, you love a good shimmer shade on the lid but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate a nice matte palette. Matte palettes are great to have in your collection and a good drugstore option is always welcome. Both the Mad for Matte and Summer Breeze palettes are great affordable options. I'll be honest and say they don't swatch that well, but they really do perform well on the eyes. I have no issues with them blending or lasting, and reach for them quite a bit when I know I need a matte shade. I love the compact size and the sturdy packaging. I like to pack these when traveling and think of them as complimentary palettes in my collection.

The Mad for Matte palette was the initial palette launched, and it's a very neutral palette with some cooler tones as well. Again, a great palette on it's own and great to use as a complimentary palette. Of the two palettes, the Summer Breeze palette is my favorites. I love the warmer shades and they perform better than the original. The second palette is more pigmented, and the shades are really on trend right now. Both palettes have a nice range of colors; they have your cream shade, transition shades, and darker shades giving you a well rounded palette.

If you're looking for matte palettes to add to your collection, you might want to consider these. Again, I think they travel great. They're also great to have in a work/school makeup bag. I have no issues with their longevity and they blend very well. I do prefer the Summer Breeze palette but that doesn't mean the Mad for Matte palette isn't a good palette, it's just my personal preference.

Have you tried one of these palettes?

  1. The Matte Summer Breeze is the Mad for Matte 2? It is the same palette? I was looking to buy that one but I can't find a website that ships here.

  2. Matte shades are a must for me - I usually tend to skip the shimmer shades on my lid and just run one or two matte shades through the crease for my everyday look. These palettes have some good shades!

  6. I'm happy to read you prefer Summer Breeze because it caught my eye first. I also like warmer tones.

Now I have that Seals and Croft song in my head. Lol.

  7. Ooo I’ve never heard of these palettes before! I love the look of the summer breeze one. I don’t think I actually own any eyeshadow palettes that are solely matte!

  8. I don't own these palettes. The Mad for Matte 2 has pretty shades. I have the Elf Prism Eyeshadow palettes they are good as well. Maybe you own them already for the shimmers in them :-)

  13. I haven't tried these or any ELF shadows. It's good to hear that despite not swatching well they work great on the eyes.
