Affordable Beauty Sponges

Beauty Blender Dupes

(Pink- L'Oreal, Purple- Quo, Red- Morphe, Orange-Real Techniques)

Confession: I’ve never tried a real Beauty Blender. I would love to try one, but there’s something about handing over 28$ dollars for a sponge that makes me cringe. My dog or my son can easily take that sponge, and it’s gone...

The first beauty sponge that I used was the Real Techniques one. It’s very easy to find in Canada and reasonably priced. The shape of the sponge allows you to use it for concealer or foundation. It does a very good job of blending both, and the colour makes it easy to wash.

The second sponge I used was by Quo Cosmetics (purple) and I realized that I really preferred the shape for foundation. It’s very easy to hold, and again affordable. The Quo sponge does soak up a lot of water, and I have to squeeze it in a towel before using it but it does a good job. It is also a bit more stiffer when comparing all the sponges. Quo is exclusive to Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix in Canada.

I purchased the Morphe sponge online, and really liked the feel of it. It expanded well,  and I didn’t feel like it absorbed too much product. Unfortunately for me, I grabbed it the wrong way, trying to get it out of a container and tore it on the bottom. I couldn’t use it for foundation with the little tear in it. Since Morphe is not easily available in Canada and I chose not to repurchase for now.

I wanted to try the l’Oreal sponge and was very impressed by how soft it was, how much it expanded and it looked and felt identical to the Morphe one. The Morphe one was my favourite of those I tried, but it has now been replaced. I’m really loving this sponge. It has the shape I love in a sponge, it has the softness and doesn’t soak up too much product. The price is great, it's easily accessible and the quality is on point.

Have you found a great affordable sponge?

  1. 28$!!!! What ! That sounds ridiculous to the £16 they are in the UK. I do adore them though. Really want to try the Ecotools sponges nextx

    1. Yes, the Canadian exchange is rough. I heard good things about the Ecotools. I'm not sure if I can find them here.

  2. I really like the RT one and I have used a real BB and I think it is great comparison! But I agree the price of the original beauty blender is outrageous.

  3. I've not really gotten into sponges, but everyone says how good they are! I really need to try some of these xx

  4. The price of the Beauty Blender has put me off purchasing it. I really like the RT sponge xx

  5. I've been looking to try out new sponges, I've purchased beauty blenders a few times but quit after awhile because it is indeed a ridiculous amount to spend and they do break after a month of use with me because of the regular washes. Will try the L'oreal one, it looks very promising! x

  6. I used to buy beauty blenders, but DM, a German drugstore, started doing sponges with their ebelin line and I find them to be as good as the original.

  7. I use the real techniques one, I do love it but I just wish it didn't retain so much water, although it could just be mine! x

  8. I hunted down an affordable sponge and then when I finally found it.... its been in my drawer inside the box, unused. Your post reminded me that I need to try it !

  9. Wow the exchange rate is awful for you guys! I really like the Real Techniques and Elf Blending Sponge as alternatives xx

  10. Thanks so much for this review! I will definitely try the L'Oreal sponge.
