Sunday Prep: Starting Your Week Off On The Right Path

Sunday Prep: Starting Your Week Off On The Right Path

Sunday is my prep day, it's the day where I reset myself and prepare for the week ahead. I am a wife and mom, and the more organized I am- the less overwhelmed I get. You don't want Monday to come, and you're already feeling frazzled and stressed. I love routines, and habits that turn into routines. Here are some of the things that I do that prepares me for the week ahead.

Laundry

I make sure that our clothes are all washed and ready for the week ahead. I don't want to be looking for clean clothes on Monday. I want to start the week knowing I won't have to do laundry during the week; when I'm tired and can easily procrastinate or when life can get in the way and I won't have a chance to do it. It would make an already difficult week, more difficult. I don't recommend saving all your laundry to do on Sunday but those items you know you will look for if it's not clean. Those items that will absolutely be used. (Tip: I save my towels as my last load, because it I don't have a chance to fold them. I don't have to worry about them wrinkling)

Check Your Schedule

Sunday is the day I check my schedule and have an idea what my week ahead will look like. Write a to do list for the week, set some goals for yourself and create a strategy for anything that needs to be looked at further. If you have a spouse, check in and make sure everyone knows what is upcoming for the week.

Meal Plan

There's nothing worst than coming home on a Monday, and not knowing what to cook. It's not a good start to the week. I meal plan to help me have a plan and not feel lost when it comes to meals. When I meal plan, I don't choose meals for specific days. I plan meals around what I have in the house, meals we like, and I make sure I have a few really quick meals that I can put together without much effort. Let's face it, if you don't feel like cooking and the meal plan only has these elaborate meals on the list you're going to want to order in. If I know  I have a quick meal to choose from, I'm more likely to suck it up and cook that meal then order from a restaurant.

Check the Weather

Is it going to be hot, cold, rainy? You don't want to walk out the door on Monday and have to run back in to get a coat or an umbrella. Don't start your week off on a stressful note. You don't have to plan outfits for the week, but have a good idea what you want/need for Monday morning. Checking the weather is also apart of my morning routine.

Allow Yourself Time for Self Care

Self Care can simply be sitting down for the evening when the kids are in bed, and you have quite time. Make sure you have time for yourself to do whatever you want, and you're not doing chores into the evening. Once you have every thing set in place, enjoy the evening and reset. The week ahead is going to come whether or not you're ready for it. So be ready!

  1. I'm the same way! Sundays are my day to plan and get everything in order for the week to come. It used to be Monday, but then Monday would roll around and I'd end up so stressed and unprepared. Now everything runs a lot more smoothly. And I don't feel so bad for being lazy all of Sunday lol.
